The Patrol Marksman program was developed to bridge the gap between the SWAT sniper and a patrol officer with a traditional red dot sight.  Magnified optics reduce risk to the community by allowing patrol officers to make better shoot / no shoot decisions and deliver first round impacts on partial or high risk targets.

The Patrol Marksman program is NOT a “baby sniper” course.  This course will focus on the use of a patrol rifle with a magnified optic to engage real world patrol based problems from realistic, real world barricade support positions.

The Patrol Marksman instructor course is designed to provide the knowledge and ability for LE firearms instructors to develop and teach curriculum designed specifically around the use of magnified optics on patrol rifles.

Topics Covered

  • Optic selection and proper mounting procedures.  Every student will disassemble and mount their optic using industry best practices.
  • Rifle setup and selection.  How to choose the proper enablers for a Patrol Marksman rifle.
  • An in-depth discussion of zeroing.  What is cone of fire and why does it matter?  How to barricades and environmental factors affect rifle zero?
  • How do I calculate the likelihood of a first round hit based on prior zeroing data?
  • Real world hasty range estimation techniques on live actors.
  • Proper use of magnification for target discrimination.  We’ll be doing target discrimination at distance on live actors and photo realistic targets.
  • A foundation of curriculum to use in your own magnified optic program and discussion on how to develop your own curriculum, drills, and evaluations.
  • How to build or make the most of your own barricades for training.

You WILL leave this course with the curriculum, policy recommendations, and information you need to immediately implement your own magnified optic program.
